The SPipes language is a technology that enables the processing of structured data in the form of the Semantic Web. This thesis attempts to improve the existing SPipes script editor. The thesis first introduces the principles of the Semantic Web and related technologies. Based on a thorough analysis of the existing editor and conducted survey, the application architecture was redesigned and functional and non-functional requirements for the editor were defined. Main contributions of this work are re-implementation of the backend part from Scala to Java, which eliminates the compatibility issues arising from the incompatibility between Scala and the Spring framework that is used. Special attention was paid to writing tests for most parts of the application, which simplifies the detection of potential bugs in the application. Major change in architecture was to split the originally monolithic application into several separate services with the use of Docker and docker-compose, leading to simpler configuration and easier deployment of the application. Last but not least, this thesis introduces new non-trivial features of the editor - the capability of validating and debugging of SPipes scripts and modules

The future distribution of wetland birds breeding in Europe validated against observed changes in distribution

Publisher Copyright: © 2022 The Author(s). Published by IOP Publishing Ltd.Wetland bird species have been declining in population size worldwide as climate warming and land-use change affect their suitable habitats. We used species distribution models (SDMs) to predict changes in range dynamics for 64 non-passerine wetland birds breeding in Europe, including range size, position of centroid, and margins. We fitted the SDMs with data collected for the first European Breeding Bird Atlas and climate and land-use data to predict distributional changes over a century (the 1970s-2070s). The predicted annual changes were then compared to observed annual changes in range size and range centroid over a time period of 30 years using data from the second European Breeding Bird Atlas. Our models successfully predicted ca. 75% of the 64 bird species to contract their breeding range in the future, while the remaining species (mostly southerly breeding species) were predicted to expand their breeding ranges northward. The northern margins of southerly species and southern margins of northerly species, both, predicted to shift northward. Predicted changes in range size and shifts in range centroids were broadly positively associated with the observed changes, although some species deviated markedly from the predictions. The predicted average shift in core distributions was ca. 5 km yr-1 towards the north (5% northeast, 45% north, and 40% northwest), compared to a slower observed average shift of ca. 3.9 km yr-1. Predicted changes in range centroids were generally larger than observed changes, which suggests that bird distribution changes may lag behind environmental changes leading to 'climate debt'. We suggest that predictions of SDMs should be viewed as qualitative rather than quantitative outcomes, indicating that care should be taken concerning single species. Still, our results highlight the urgent need for management actions such as wetland creation and restoration to improve wetland birds' resilience to the expected environmental changes in the future.Peer reviewe

We report the discovery of a warm Neptune and a hot sub-Neptune transiting TOI-421 (BD-14 1137, TIC 94986319), a bright (V = 9.9) G9 dwarf star in a visual binary system observed by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) space mission in Sectors 5 and 6. We performed ground-based follow-up observations—comprised of Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope transit photometry, NIRC2 adaptive optics imaging, and FIbre-fed Echellé Spectrograph, CORALIE, High Accuracy Radial velocity Planet Searcher, High Resolution Échelle Spectrometer, and Planet Finder Spectrograph high-precision Doppler measurements—and confirmed the planetary nature of the 16 day transiting candidate announced by the TESS team. We discovered an additional radial velocity signal with a period of five days induced by the presence of a second planet in the system, which we also found to transit its host star. We found that the inner mini-Neptune, TOI-421 b, has an orbital period of P_b = 5.19672 ± 0.00049 days, a mass of M_b = 7.17 ± 0.66 M⊕, and a radius of R_b = 2.68^(+0.19)_(-0.18) R⊕, whereas the outer warm Neptune, TOI-421 c, has a period of Pc = 16.06819 ± 0.00035 days, a mass of M_c = 16.42^(+1.06)_(-1.04) M⊕, a radius of R_c = 5.09^(+0.16)_(-0.15) R⊕ and a density of ρ_c = 0.685^(+0.080)_(-0.072) g cm⁻³. With its characteristics, the outer planet (ρ_c = 0.685^(+0.080)_(-0.072) g cm⁻³) is placed in the intriguing class of the super-puffy mini-Neptunes. TOI-421 b and TOI-421 c are found to be well-suited for atmospheric characterization. Our atmospheric simulations predict significant Lyα transit absorption, due to strong hydrogen escape in both planets, as well as the presence of detectable CH4 in the atmosphere of TOI-421 c if equilibrium chemistry is assumed

    Czech-French cultural standards

    No full text
I created my bachelor thesis for the purpose of identifying Czech-French cultural standards and cultural differences and determining recommendations for current and future communication with French culture on the basis of further research. I introduce the topic of culture through an explanation of important terminology and a detailed description of individual cultural typologies. In the following part, I write about France and French culture. In my bachelor thesis, I also apply individual cultural theories directly to the French culture and then compare the values with the values of the Czech Republic. In the practical part, I focus on research which is based on both, quantitative and qualitative collection methods. I chose university students aged 18 to 26 as respondents of the research part. Concentration on this age group makes it possible to partially predict the direction in which both cultures will develop in the future and at the same time outline what style of communication and cooperation will be suitable and effective.
